On Thursday, September 24, 2009, the Palo Alto Community Fund held a reception in the lovely Palo Alto garden of Dee and Loren Brown. This annual event is a special way to thank donors and introduce them to the organizations who directly benefit from their generosity. In 2009 the Fund gave more than $238,000 to 32 local nonprofit organizations. Each nonprofit presented a poster describing their grant and their organization and guests enjoyed browsing the displays.   

The event is also a unique opportunity for donors, staff, and board members to meet others who diligently work to make our community a better place to be and to better understand the importance of what the Palo Alto Community Fund does. The event also offers a short program and this year, representatives from Kidpower, Bread of Life EPA, and Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) spoke briefly about their organizations’ missions. About 165 people attended the reception on this beautiful warm fall evening.

Since it was founded in 1979, the Palo Alto Community Fund has made 389 nonprofit grants to over 160 local Palo Alto-area organizations totaling $1.9M.
