GRANTS 2004

 

In 2004, the Fund awarded over $130,000 to these 23 organizations.

Adolescent Counseling Services:  To provide critical individual and family counseling for adolescents, group sessions with middle and high school students, and professional training to mental health interns.

Art In Action:  To help schools establish sustainable, sequential, discipline-based art programs which teach art appreciation, history, and techniques.

Beechwood School:  To partially fund a much needed school psychologist.

Clara-Mateo Alliance: To provide homeless children with educational activities and support through its Family and Children’s Services program.

Community Development Institute:  To support the Leadership Training Academy providing a youth led and administered leadership development program serving low-income youth.

Community School of Music & Arts:  To augment the Financial Aid Program for low-income Palo Alto youngsters to encourage and develop their artistic abilities. 

East Palo Alto Micro-Business Initiative/ d.b.a. Start Up:  To support the Business Owners Advanced Training and Support initiative which provides entrepreneurship training programs to East Palo Alto micro-business owners. 

East Palo Alto YMCA:  To fund a week of YMCA camp attendance for 50 youth from East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park.  East Palo Alto Youth Sports:  To support a football and cheerleading program and an academic tutoring program for East Palo Alto youth. 

Eastside College Preparatory School:  To help fund Eastside’s middle school reading program. 

Environmental Volunteers:  To support the Digging Deeper  collaborative project providing in-depth coordinated natural science education to grades 2-5 at the East Palo Alto Charter School.

Family Connections:  To provide partial funding for a six-week summer parent-participation preschool program for low-income families. 

Foundation for a College Education:  To hire a Program Associate to oversee all college counseling efforts for Foundation for a College Education high school and college students. 

Girls’ Club of the Mid-Peninsula:  To provide at-risk girls with piano lessons and the opportunity to participate in the Girls’ Club Choir through the Music Learning Program. 

Lytton Gardens: to fund the Friendly Visitor Project that matches and trains volunteers to meet regularly and individually with at-risk seniors. 

Palo Alto Area, American Red Cross:  To present Preparing for the Unexpected, a program developed by the Red Cross, to six Palo Alto neighborhood associations. 

Palo Alto Community Child Care: To enable school-age children from low-income families to attend the summer child care program. 

Palo Alto Family YMCA:  To provide outreach and educational activities at the Ventura Youth Activity Center and the Henry Page Computer Lab. 

Parents Place Family Resource Center:  To improve the overall quality of childcare and promote the mental health and school readiness of low-income children through the Early Childhood Mental Health project. 

Shelter Network:  To support the Haven Family House program in Menlo Park which offers transitional housing and comprehensive support services to families in need. 

St. Vincent de Paul Society of Santa Clara County:  To provide job linkages and emergency services to low-income day workers with limited English at the Day worker Service Center. 

YES Reading:To provide one-on-one tutoring twice weekly for one year to ten Belle Haven students. 

Zohar Dance Company:  To support the “IndepenDANCE” program teaching dance to at-risk and special education children in Palo Alto and nearby communities.
