(20 hrs/wk Part Time)
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Palo Alto Community Fund
BACKGROUND: Originally established in 1979 as the Palo Alto Endowment Fund, the Palo Alto Community Fund now maintains assets over $4M and continues to focus on its mission to grow, sustain, and use its endowment to improve the quality of life in our community. The Fund supports the work of new and existing nonprofit organizations serving the Palo Alto area.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management necessary to ensure the Fund’s success in achieving its mission and its financial objectives. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED guides the strategic vision and objectives of PACF, enables the Board to fulfill its governance function, and gives direction and leadership toward achieving PACF’s annual goals. Provides leadership and vision for fundraising planning and implementation; works closely with the Fundraising Committee to develop major fundraising efforts. The ED Represents PACF in the community; develops relationships with local organizations and educates their members about PACF, increasing the visibility of the organization. The ED hires and oversees the work of staff and is accountablef or staff performance and effectiveness. The ED is, therefore, closely involved with all administrative aspects
of the agency and has responsibility for program, personnel and financial management; community relations and fund development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- A passionate interest in the greater Palo Alto area philanthropic and non-profit communities.
- Prior non-profit experience.
- Proven leadership skills including organizational development, personnel management and program management.
- Experience with or understanding of working with volunteers.
- Experience in fundraising, personal solicitation and developing campaigns.
- Proven budget and finance experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Communication, collaboration, facilitation and listening skills with staff, volunteers, board and community stakeholders.
- Ability to lead an organization collaboratively with an active twenty-person board.
- Ability to engage and motivate staff and volunteers.
- Computer literacy and comfort with technology.
Salary & Hours:
- 20 hours per week, flexible schedule
- Salary $27,000 - $32,000 commensurate with experience and education.
